I want to start doing Q&A Blog Posts to help people get to know me and my family. If you have ANY questions for me or my family feel free to email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org OR send me a message on Instagram!! I had a lot of requests to talk about my birth story but I already have a blog post that will go up on Kingsley's first birthday so keep an eye out for that!! Now lets answer some questions!!
- Was labor/delivery different than what you expected it to be?
Kelly- YES! A million times yes!! I had my heart set on having a natural delivery but after 20 hours of active labor they had to induce me because I wasn't progressing fast enough. The medicine they give to induce you makes your contractions 1000% worse!! I was hard headed though so I kept pushing through the pain. Crying, basically breaking my husband's hand, and yelling at anyone who tried to talk to me during a contraction. Finally after 6 hours of THAT I gave in and asked for an epidural (BEST THING EVER!). So yes labor and delivery were not what I expected it to be at all!
Keith- Yeah. I didn't think I was going to be as nervous as I was. I also didn't think it was going to be as brutal on Kelly as it was.
- Is having a baby everything you expected it to be or did you not really know what to expect?
Kelly- Yes and some!! It is definitely hard work and can be exhausting but being a mother is the most rewarding thing I've ever done! And on those hard days I just have to remind myself its about perspective.
Keith- Hmmm... I didn't really know what to expect when we found out we were expecting but it has turned out to be amazing and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
- How different do you think it'd be if you had a girl?
Keith- Extremely! I think I would be more protective and a bigger worrywart.
Kelly- I think it wouldn't be too different. I would still raise her to be a kind human. I think the only difference is I'd have to worry about the fact that the whole world will treat her differently just because of her gender but I would raise her to be a strong, intelligent, independent woman.
- Do you and your husband want another baby?
In this season of life we do not want another baby and we may never want another baby. BUT saying this doesn't mean if we did have another baby we would love it any less because we wouldn't. We'd love it just the same!!
- Worst part about giving birth?
My Pitocin contractions hands down!!
- Did you read up on what to expect while giving birth?
I read a lot on how to have a successful natural birth... didn't help much though haha.
- Little Man had surgery when he was super young right? What was that for?
Kingsley did have surgery when he was very little for his SEVERE lip and tongue tie. If you'd like to know more about this click here.
